More than Mead – Exploring Ancient Brews

More than just Mead – Exploring ancient brews and modern practice
With Jem Warren

The session will take in Biology, Chemistry, History and Archaeology as a journey from Ancient Times to now, looking at brewing techniques and ingredients. We will be using historically accurate recipes to explore the differences between Mead, Cyser, Melomel, Metheglin, Pyment, Bishops, Caudles and Possets; finishing with the completion of a wheel of the year that folks can use to plan their own brewing adventures. There may be some tasting, but that’s not going to be the focus of the workshop, although we will have a go at recreating some of them.

The session will have spaces for between 20 and 30
